DESCRIPTION

This exquisite sculpture of a lemur is hand carved from solid wood and hand painted in an elegant palette of white, black, gray and gold. The artist has given himself the freedom to present his particular version of this interesting animal endemic to the island of Madagascar, famous for living in groups led by females, who communicate using a great diversity of sounds but also through their heightened sense of smell.

The lemur is depicted standing on its two hind legs, with one of its front legs retracted. Its body and head are tilted backward, which in conjunction with the expressive face suggests an attitude of caution. The long tail is shown raised, perhaps serving as a flag to help keep the group together as they travel.

With the artist's special touch that is also expressed in the inclusion of the owl figure, the ancient communicator of the underworld of the Zapotec culture, which enhances the magical character of the piece.

A beautiful piece that would make a wonderful addition to any home or office, and is sure to bring a smile to your face and spark conversations about its unique design. Because of its size it is perfect for those looking for a piece that makes a big impact, adding visual interest and sparking interest in art and animals.
